Electronic brain memory chip

Computer chip allows instantaneous rats recorded on the knowledge. The chemical interactions that are responsible for the short-term memory and the learning process in rats, a team led by Theodore Berger of the engineering school named Viterbi developed a chip which, by means of electrodes can enhance and expand their memory. The chip is capable of storing neural signals. That is, it functions as an e-card, allowing the rats to explore more information and retain learned in this unit."Switch Memory and rats begin to remember, - says Dr. Berger. - Turn off and the rats forget. These complex experiments for the first time demonstrated that, with the knowledge of the neural code memory, neural implants are capable of real-time to identify and manipulate the process of coding, repairing and even enhancing cognitive mnemonic processes. "In addition to this, writes portal Gizmodo.com, the researchers showed that the use of the implant electrodes in animals with normally functioning hippocampus, allows to improve memory and the ability to normal mice.Experiments teams that have been published in a paper entitled "Neural implants cortex to restore and improve memory," may lead to the development of devices that allow for full life of patients suffering from Alzheimer's disease, stroke or brain damage. They are already working on the next step: the creation of a similar device for monkeys.
